Hello everyone! I have taken a decision, at last, though with a heavy heart.
I have been struggling to find the time to devote to writing Greenery: much though I love sharing events in my little garden, and musing over all those insights which occur to you as you make your way along the never-ending journey towards greater sustainability, I have been finding life is rather derailing my efforts.
This is mainly because of the new job. I could never have predicted, when I started Greenery a little over a year ago, that I would be the end of that same year be joining my favourite charity, Plantlife, as their peat-free advocate. This has turned out to be an all-absorbing job which is exciting, frustrating and inspiring by turns. It’s taking me off all over the country, and when I’m at home - well, to be honest, I’d rather be in my garden than in front of my computer.
So I hope you’ll forgive me for putting Greenery on hold for a while. I don’t know how long this will be: maybe for a long time, or maybe just for summer.
I will be suspending paid subscriptions, of course; and since I’m the sort of person who seems to need to communicate any idea that pops into my mind I will still be active here via Notes and perhaps the occasional thread, and on other social media. My Twitter account, where I mostly go on about peat-free compost and the efforts to bring a ban into law, is @sallynex; and I’ll still be keeping you posted about developments in my garden via Insta at sally.nex.
Thank you for supporting Greenery and for helping make this experience such a lovely one - our little community has been a delight. I wish you the very best of summers - may all your carrots grow straight and your potatoes grow hefty! See you around…
Never enough hours in the day Sally so completely understand your decision and the peat free work is so important....
Life is too short to be struggling Sally!
I admire your decision.
As I follow both you & Plantlife on Insta I will get my ‘fix’ there.
All the best.
