Totally Tomatoes March update: Seed sowing results

I have a lot of baby tomato plants. No, really – a LOT. I am eyeing them with some trepidation, because I know where this ends.

I may have overdone it again…

Of course, I over-sowed deliberately this year for our Totally Tomatoes growalong, but even so I am having flashbacks to less self-controlled days. You know how it goes: you sow tomato seeds willy-nilly, flushed with the enthusiasm of very early spring after a long winter, and then you spend spring in a rising state of panic, slowly drowning in a tsunami of ever-larger tomato plants with nowhere to go.

Well: at least these tomatoes are wanted. Each is playing its role in what I hope will be quite extensive experiments as we go through the year. The first, looking into different ways of germinating seeds plus initial aftercare, is now very nearly over, with a little sting in the tail which I’ll get to in a bit. So here are the results.
